Measure the microporosity that controls shelf life

Pore structure of breathable films, vent patches and modified-atmosphere packaging media, from 0.01 µm.

Model: MPA-100 Pro Micropore · Industry: Packaging

Technology principle

A breathable pack functions because gas and moisture pass through it at a controlled rate. The same pore structure that permits that exchange must exclude contamination, and the window between the two is narrow. Measuring the distribution rather than a single transmission figure is what tells you whether a film sits inside that window across a production run or only on average.

Applications

  • MAP and fresh-produce film
  • Sterile barrier media
  • Vent patches and desiccant packs
  • Extrusion and perforation control

Key capabilities

  • Lightweight, compact and ergonomically engineered, the M19 Micropore Analyzer (MPA-100) pairs a 15" capacitive touchscreen with enhanced pressure- and flow-control hardware, so operators run a full packaging test sequence with minimal training and shorter cycle times. Available in aluminum or stainless-steel variants, it ships with real-time remote support, USB connectivity and remote-control automation. Domestic manufacturing in India and the USA keeps maintenance cost and downtime low, and a 2-year extended warranty is available.
  • Modern, low-training user interface
  • Lightweight and portable chassis
  • IP65 rated · GAMP 5 compliant
  • Three secure user levels — Operator, Supervisor and Administrator
  • Versatile connectivity — USB, Ethernet and Wireless LAN
  • Flexible reporting — built-in thermal printer or network / PDF / CSV export

Frequently asked questions

How does this relate to a water vapour transmission measurement?

WVTR gives the transmission rate through the film as a whole. Porometry gives the pore structure producing it, which is what lets you diagnose a WVTR result rather than just record it. M19 builds separate Water Vapour Transmission Analyzers where only the rate is required; packaging labs commonly run both.

Can thin film be tested without distorting under pressure?

Thin-film work needs a chamber and support arrangement designed for it, which is configured per specimen. Send a sample of the film and we will confirm the mounting approach before quoting.
