Technology principle
An efficiency test reports what a medium did on the day it was tested. Pore size distribution reports why it did it, and whether the next roll will behave the same way. Media producers who track both catch a drift in fibre diameter or calendering pressure while it is still a process adjustment, instead of discovering it as a failed classification on finished product.

Frequently asked questions
Does this replace our efficiency testing?
No, and it should not. Efficiency testing measures what is captured; porometry measures the structure that captures it. They answer different questions, and the structural measurement is what lets you control a process rather than inspect its output. M19 builds a separate Particulate Filtration Efficiency Analyzer for the efficiency side.
How many positions across a roll should we sample?
That depends on your web width and how your classification is specified. Our application team will work it out with you against your own specification rather than quoting a generic number.
