Characterise bioprocess filtration media and engineered scaffolds

Pore size distribution from 0.01 µm on sterilising-grade media, cell culture substrates and scaffolds.

Model: MPA-100 Pro Micropore · Industry: Biotech

Technology principle

In bioprocessing, the pore network decides retention and yield at the same time — the structure that holds back an organism also holds back product. In tissue engineering it decides whether cells populate a scaffold at all, since pore size and interconnection govern infiltration and nutrient transport. Both need a measured distribution rather than a nominal rating.

Applications

  • Sterilising-grade filter media
  • Single-use assembly components
  • Tissue engineering scaffolds
  • Chromatography and depth media

Key capabilities

  • Lightweight, compact and ergonomically engineered, the M19 Micropore Analyzer (MPA-100) pairs a 15" capacitive touchscreen with enhanced pressure- and flow-control hardware, so operators run a full biotech test sequence with minimal training and shorter cycle times. Available in aluminum or stainless-steel variants, it ships with real-time remote support, USB connectivity and remote-control automation. Domestic manufacturing in India and the USA keeps maintenance cost and downtime low, and a 2-year extended warranty is available.
  • Modern, low-training user interface
  • Lightweight and portable chassis
  • IP65 rated · GAMP 5 compliant
  • Three secure user levels — Operator, Supervisor and Administrator
  • Versatile connectivity — USB, Ethernet and Wireless LAN
  • Flexible reporting — built-in thermal printer or network / PDF / CSV export

Frequently asked questions

Does this replace a bacterial challenge test?

No. A bacterial challenge is the microbiological proof that a filter is sterilising grade; porometry is the physical measurement that the challenge result correlates to. Regulators expect the challenge. Porometry is what you use between challenges to show the structure has not drifted.

Can the instrument test scaffolds that are not flat?

Three-dimensional scaffolds need a chamber designed around the geometry, and some architectures are better characterised by gas adsorption than by flow porometry. Describe the scaffold and we will tell you honestly which method fits — including if it is not this instrument.
