Characterise separators, GDLs and electrode media where cell performance is decided
Pore size distribution from 0.01 µm on battery separators, gas diffusion layers and porous transport media.
Model: MPA-100 Pro Micropore · Industry: Energy
Technology principle
Pore structure sets ion transport, flooding behaviour and — in a separator — safety. A separator pore distribution is a direct predictor of rate capability and of the shorting risk that dominates a cell qualification. These structures sit well below the range of coarse porometry, so the measurement either reaches 0.01 µm or it is not measuring the pores that matter.
Applications
- Li-ion separator characterisation
- Fuel cell GDL and MPL
- Electrolyser transport layers
- Hydrogen storage media
Key capabilities
- Lightweight, compact and ergonomically engineered, the M19 Micropore Analyzer (MPA-100) pairs a 15" capacitive touchscreen with enhanced pressure- and flow-control hardware, so operators run a full energy test sequence with minimal training and markedly shorter cycle times. Available in aluminum or stainless-steel variants, it ships with real-time remote support, USB connectivity and remote-control automation. Domestic manufacturing in India and the USA keeps maintenance cost and downtime low, and a 2-year extended warranty is available.
- Modern, low-training user interface
- Lightweight and portable chassis
- IP65 rated · GAMP 5 compliant
- Three secure user levels — Operator, Supervisor and Administrator
- Versatile connectivity — USB, Ethernet and Wireless LAN
- Flexible reporting — built-in thermal printer or network / PDF / CSV export

Frequently asked questions
Separator film is thin and fragile. Can it be tested without damage?
Yes, with a chamber and clamping arrangement designed for thin film. This is a common configuration request and the chamber is built around it — send a sample and we will confirm the mounting before you order.
We also need surface area and micropore volume below 0.01 µm. Does this cover that?
No. Capillary flow porometry measures through-pores that carry flow. Below roughly 0.01 µm you need gas adsorption, which is a different instrument — M19 builds a Surface Area Analyzer using the BET method and a Nanopore Analyzer for that range. Most energy-materials labs run both, and we would rather tell you that than oversell this one.
